Delhi woke up to shallow fog on Sunday morning as temperatures dipped to 12°C at 7 AM, marking a continuation of the city’s cold trend. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital is likely to see partly cloudy skies in the coming days, accompanied by morning fog and a further fall in temperatures.
This November has officially become Delhi’s coldest in five years, with the monthly average minimum temperature recorded at 11.5°C, according to PTI. Day temperatures also remained lower than last year, even as the month passed without a single day of rainfall.
IMD Forecast: Fog & Falling Temperatures
The IMD has issued the following forecasts for December 1–5:
🌫 Fog Conditions
- Shallow to moderate fog during early morning hours
- Reduced visibility expected in several parts of Delhi-NCR
🌡 Temperature Outlook
- Minimum temperature: 8°C to 10°C (±1.5°C)
- Maximum temperature: 23°C to 25°C
- Both minimum and maximum temperatures likely to fall by 2°C to 3°C between December 3 and 5
- Temperatures may remain below normal to appreciably below normal (2–5°C)
Despite the cold spell, skies will remain clear, IMD noted.
Air Quality Update
Delhi’s air quality saw a slight improvement on Sunday.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city’s AQI stood at 270 at 6 AM, placing it in the ‘poor’ category. This marks an improvement after 16 consecutive days of ‘very poor’ air quality earlier.
Nearby Ghaziabad also recorded better air, exiting the ‘red zone’ as wind speeds helped disperse pollutants.
