In a recent development, Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation has approached the Supreme Court of India, seeking an injunction against Tamil media outlet Nakkheeran Publications for allegedly continuing to publish defamatory content targeting the organization.

The plea was mentioned before a bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi by Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who appeared for the Foundation. The court has scheduled the matter for hearing next Monday.

To provide context, the Isha Foundation had earlier filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court, claiming that Nakkheeran’s publications had severely tarnished its reputation. The Foundation is seeking ₹3 crore in damages.

In response, Nakkheeran Publications filed a transfer petition before the Supreme Court, requesting that the case be shifted from Delhi to Chennai, arguing that the proceedings would be more appropriate in Tamil Nadu.

Now, Isha Foundation has filed an intervention application (IA) in the ongoing transfer petition, seeking to restrain Nakkheeran from continuing its “vilification campaign” pending the court’s decision.

During the mentioning, Rohatgi argued that Nakkheeran cannot pursue a jurisdiction transfer while actively defaming the Foundation on social media. “If he wants this Court’s jurisdiction, he must respect it. He cannot carry on this campaign and still ask for relief,” he said, pointing out that the Foundation is a charitable organization with followers worldwide.

The matter has been listed for hearing next week, and notices have already been issued on Nakkheeran’s transfer plea.
