Social media was abuzz on Tuesday after new reports claimed that Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palaash Muchhal had fixed December 7 as their wedding date. This came just weeks after their originally planned November 23 wedding was abruptly postponed, leading to widespread speculation.

Family denies December 7 wedding news

Smriti Mandhana’s brother, Shravan Mandhana, dismissed the reports, calling them completely false.

“I have no idea about these rumours. As of now, the wedding is still postponed,” he said.

No new date has been set, and the families have urged people not to believe unverified claims.

Why was the original wedding postponed?

The ceremony was halted on the morning of November 23 after:

  • Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered a serious medical emergency and was rushed to hospital.
  • Shortly after, Palaash also fell ill due to stress and was hospitalised, undergoing multiple tests before being discharged.

The families emphasised that the delay was made purely out of concern for health and well-being.

Rumours and allegations fuel online speculation

The postponement triggered a flood of online theories far beyond the medical emergency:

  • Cheating allegations emerged on social media after alleged screenshots were circulated.
  • Fans noticed Smriti deleted engagement photos and proposal videos, adding to the speculation.
  • Two choreographers involved in wedding preparations — Nandika Dwivedi and Gulnaaz Khan — were dragged into the rumours but strongly denied any involvement and called the allegations “fabricated” and “harmful”.

Families call for privacy and restraint

Palaash’s mother released an emotional appeal, calling the rumours “deeply unfair”. She clarified that Palaash himself had suggested postponing the wedding even before the Mandhana family made the decision.

Despite the noise on social media:

  • Smriti and Palaash have not issued any official statement on the allegations.
  • Both added an evil-eye emoji to their Instagram bios — seen by many as a subtle response to negativity.

For now, the couple’s wedding remains postponed, with no new date decided.
