Ranveer Singh’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar has run into yet another controversy ahead of its December 5 release. After Major Mohit Sharma’s parents approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the film, another objection has surfaced — this time from Naureen Aslam, the widow of Karachi’s well-known police officer Chaudhary Aslam.

Karachi Cop’s Widow Raises Strong Objections

Chaudhary Aslam, portrayed by Sanjay Dutt in the film, was one of Pakistan’s most prominent encounter specialists, known for his operations against gangsters and Taliban militants in Karachi. He was assassinated in January 2014 in a bomb attack carried out by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban’s Mohmand chapter.

Naureen Aslam expressed concern after watching the film’s trailer, stating she is waiting for the full movie to release before deciding on legal action.

She objected to a trailer dialogue describing Aslam as “the child of the devil and a jinn”:

“We are Muslims, and such words are disrespectful not only to Aslam but also to his mother, who was a simple, honest woman.”

She said she will not hesitate to take legal measures if she finds her husband misrepresented or portrayed in a negative or misleading way.

Accusations of Misrepresentation

Naureen also criticised the filmmakers, saying Indian films often “malign Pakistan” and questioned why her husband’s legacy would be altered.

She further claimed that the portrayal of gangster Rehman Dakait as a major terrorist is inaccurate:

“My husband told me he was an extortionist and kidnapper, not a terrorist.”

Actor Akshaye Khanna plays Dakait in the movie.
