A 38-year-old Chennai-based YouTuber was allegedly assaulted by four men in Avadi after he posted videos criticising actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay. The victim, identified as Kiran Bruce, runs a YouTube channel where he frequently comments on political and entertainment topics, including content critical of Vijay and TVK.

The Attack

According to the police complaint, the incident occurred when Kiran Bruce visited a theatre for a special screening. Four men allegedly confronted him, threatened him over his videos, and then physically attacked him.

Following the incident, Bruce lodged a complaint with the Vadapalani Police.

Accused Arrested

Police have booked and arrested four men identified as:

  • Balakrishnan
  • Dhanush
  • Ashok
  • Parthasarathy

They have been charged under five sections of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is underway to determine if the attack was coordinated or influenced by political supporters.

Vijay Resumes Political Outreach Despite Pending SOP

Meanwhile, TVK chief and actor Vijay launched an indoor outreach programme in Chennai, drawing nearly 2,000 attendees, despite the Tamil Nadu government yet to finalise the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for political rallies.

Vijay also criticised the ruling DMK, accusing the party of misleading voters and failing to deliver on promises.
He stated that TVK would not wait indefinitely for the government to finalise guidelines before resuming political campaigns.

The outreach event marks TVK’s formal return to political activity after a deadly stampede in Karur earlier this year claimed 41 lives and left over 60 injured.
