Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India is rapidly building a complete semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, with 10 major domestic semiconductor units expected to establish a strong global presence in the near future.

Addressing a Rozgar Mela through video conferencing, the Prime Minister stated that India’s push towards becoming a developed nation by 2047 is driving large-scale investments across several sectors, creating millions of employment opportunities for young people.

He said the country is making significant progress in semiconductor manufacturing and supply chain development, which is expected to strengthen India’s position in the global technology and electronics industry.

According to PM Modi, investments in core manufacturing, engineering and technology sectors are helping generate high-quality jobs while also boosting domestic production capabilities.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s efforts to strengthen India’s maritime and aviation sectors. He said an investment of nearly Rs 75,000 crore is being made to develop a complete ecosystem for shipbuilding, refitting and overhauling operations in the country.

In the aviation sector, the government is focusing on building a strong Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) ecosystem within India. The move is expected to reduce dependence on overseas facilities for aircraft servicing and create new employment opportunities for skilled youth.

PM Modi further said India’s expanding global partnerships are opening new opportunities for startups, researchers and young professionals. He added that these collaborations are helping Indian talent gain access to advanced technologies, global expertise and international markets.

The Prime Minister said countries that innovate, manufacture and deliver at scale earn global respect, and India is progressing rapidly in all three areas with the support of its young workforce.

During the event, PM Modi distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates under the Rozgar Mela initiative. Congratulating the recruits, he said they are becoming important and responsible contributors to the country’s development journey.

Rozgar Melas are aimed at providing employment opportunities to youth between 18 and 35 years of age and cover candidates with educational qualifications ranging from Class 8 to graduates, including ITI and diploma holders.

The government reaches job seekers through advertisements, social media campaigns, SMS alerts and awareness programmes conducted at colleges and universities across different districts.
