The government has advised consumers to rely on online booking for LPG cylinders, assuring that home delivery services have improved significantly and continue to expand.

During a recent press briefing, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated that while the LPG supply situation is stabilising, it still requires careful management.

Online Booking on the Rise

Officials highlighted that nearly 93% of LPG bookings are now being made through online platforms, marking a strong shift towards digital services. Despite this, long queues are still being reported at several gas agency outlets.

The government has urged consumers to avoid visiting distributors after placing orders, emphasising that cylinders will be delivered directly to homes.

Home Delivery Sees Major Improvement

According to the latest data, home delivery rates have improved significantly—from 53% earlier to around 81% currently. This indicates better distribution efficiency and reduced dependency on in-person collection.

Authorities reassured the public that delivery systems are being closely monitored and strengthened to ensure timely supply.

Commercial Supply and Additional Measures

On the commercial front, LPG supply has been stabilised across the country. Around 15 states and union territories have already issued allocation orders to maintain adequate availability.

Additionally, 12 states have implemented extra kerosene allocations as a backup measure to support households during supply challenges.

Government Appeal to Consumers

Officials reiterated that consumers should trust the system and avoid crowding at distribution centres. By booking online and waiting for delivery, people can help ease pressure on supply chains and ensure smoother distribution nationwide.
