Srinidhi Shetty, the popular South Indian actress best known for her role in the ‘KGF’ franchise, recently revealed that she auditioned for the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated ‘Ramayana’. However, the role ultimately went to Telugu star Sai Pallavi. Speaking in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Srinidhi shared her experience of the audition and her thoughts on Sai Pallavi’s portrayal of Sita opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
The actress recalled preparing for three scenes and delivering a performance that was well-received during the audition. “I remember preparing three scenes very well, and they had a great response; they loved it,” she said. Srinidhi also mentioned that at the time of the audition, she had heard that her ‘KGF’ co-star Yash was involved with the project, and she thought they might play opposite roles—she as Sita and Yash as Raavan.
Reflecting on how people might have reacted to the pairing, Srinidhi said, “I was thinking, he would play Raavan, I would play Sita; we would be pitted against each other. So people might not have been able to digest us against each other.”
Despite not landing the role, Srinidhi expressed her happiness for Sai Pallavi being cast as Sita. “I feel Sai Pallavi is a great choice. I would love to see her as Sita in the movie. When something works, it’s great; when something doesn’t, it’s still wonderful because new doors will open for you,” she added.
Srinidhi Shetty will next be seen in the much-anticipated movie ‘HIT: The Third Case,’ starring Telugu actor Nani, which is set to release on May 1.
