Argentine football legend Lionel Messi has extended his stay in India following his recently concluded GOAT tour and travelled to Jamnagar, Gujarat, to visit Vantara, the wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre promoted by the Reliance group.
Visuals of Messi arriving in Jamnagar under tight security, accompanied by fellow footballers Luis Suárez and other teammates, were shared by news agency ANI on Tuesday. The visit adds Messi to a growing list of global figures who have toured the ambitious conservation facility.
According to ANI, Messi and his team will spend the night at Vantara, where they are being hosted by Anant Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited. The visit is expected to include a guided tour of the centre, which focuses on the rescue, treatment, rehabilitation and long-term care of wildlife.
Vantara has increasingly drawn international attention for its scale and conservation efforts. Recently, Donald Trump Jr., son of former US President Donald Trump, visited the facility and publicly praised its vision and commitment to wildlife protection. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also toured Vantara earlier this year, highlighting its role in conservation and animal welfare.
Messi’s visit underscores Vantara’s rising global profile and reflects the growing intersection of sports, conservation and international engagement during high-profile visits to India.
