The Indian Railways has approved a revised route and timetable for the Kalaburagi–SMVT Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, with changes set to take effect from January 1, 2026, officials confirmed.

The semi-high-speed Vande Bharat train, flagged off by Narendra Modi on March 12, 2024, is operated under the South Western Railway zone. The revised schedule follows Railway Board approval aimed at improving connectivity and passenger convenience.

New Route and Additional Stoppage

Under the revised routing, Train Nos. 22231/22232 will now pass via Sri Sathya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam, adding an extra halt to the existing route.
The new stoppage will be effective:

  • January 1, 2026 for services originating from Kalaburagi
  • January 2, 2026 for services originating from SMVT Bengaluru

Earlier, the train halted at Yadgir, Raichur, Manthralayam Road, Guntakal, Anantapur and Yelahanka.

Train Numbers, Distance and Frequency

  • Train No. 22231 (Kalaburagi–SMVT Bengaluru): Runs on all days except Friday
  • Train No. 22232 (SMVT Bengaluru–Kalaburagi): Runs on all days except Thursday
  • Total distance covered: 550 km
  • Journey time: Approximately 8 hours 45 minutes

Officials said the revised routing and timings are expected to benefit passengers travelling to pilgrimage and regional hubs while ensuring better time efficiency.
