The India national cricket team will kick off their 2026 international season with a comprehensive white-ball series against the New Zealand national cricket team, serving as the final preparation ahead of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The home series will feature three One Day Internationals (ODIs) followed by five T20 Internationals, mirroring India’s recent white-ball assignments against Australia and South Africa. The opening match will take place just days into the new year, leaving both teams with limited preparation time before competitive action begins.

Key Focus Before T20 World Cup

With India set to defend their T20 World Cup title, the New Zealand series is expected to play a vital role in finalising combinations, assessing player form, and fine-tuning strategies. The ODIs will also help selectors evaluate depth ahead of future bilateral and ICC events later in the year.
