A massive manhunt is underway after Delhi Police issued an alert for a red Ford EcoSport believed to be connected to the recent blast near the Red Fort, which claimed 12 lives and left several others injured. All police stations, border posts, and checkpoints across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana have been placed on high alert.
Vehicle Linked to Explosion
According to initial reports, investigators discovered that suspects linked to the Hyundai i20 used in the Red Fort explosion also owned another red vehicle — prompting the alert for the Ford EcoSport.
Multiple police teams have been deployed to trace the car, while inter-state coordination has been strengthened to prevent any escape.
Car Dealer Detained
In a key breakthrough, the Special Cell detained Amit, a car dealer from Faridabad and owner of Royal Car Plaza, late Monday night. Authorities believe Amit facilitated the sale of the Hyundai i20 used in the blast.
“Amit is being interrogated to establish how the car reached the suspects and who coordinated the transaction,” said an investigating officer.
Police are also tracing how Dr. Umar Nabi, an assistant professor at Al-Falah University, allegedly came into possession of the vehicle. He is suspected to have been driving it at the time of the explosion.
Security Tightened, Dealerships Under Scrutiny
Following the blast, Delhi Police ordered an extensive verification drive across all used-car dealerships. Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have been directed to meet local dealers and review sales and purchase records.
“Dealers have been advised to verify all buyer identities using Aadhaar, driving licenses, and address proofs, and to immediately report any suspicious transactions,” a police official confirmed.
PM Modi Visits Blast Victims
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited LNJP Hospital on Wednesday to meet those injured in the explosion.
“I met the victims at LNJP Hospital and pray for their quick recovery. Those behind this conspiracy will not be spared,” Modi said in a social media post.
Security was visibly heightened in and around the hospital premises during the Prime Minister’s visit, with multiple agencies maintaining strict surveillance.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities vowing to uncover the full network behind the Red Fort blast and bring all perpetrators to justice.
