Bengaluru’s iconic Cubbon Park has come alive with colours as it hosts its first-ever 11-day flower show, offering a Lalbagh-style floral spectacle in the heart of the city. Organised by the Department of Horticulture, the exhibition runs from November 27 to December 7, celebrating both Children’s Day and Karnataka Rajyotsava.

Stretching from the Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar statue to Bal Bhavan, the park has been transformed into a vibrant floral walkway filled with thousands of blossoms, themed installations, art zones and cultural performances. Officials expect the event to become an annual tradition, much like the famous Lalbagh flower shows held during Independence Day and Republic Day.

A New Floral Tradition for the City

Nearly ₹40 lakh has been invested in this inaugural edition. More than 50,000 flower pots and over 100 varieties of plants and flowers—including rare species sourced from India and abroad—have been arranged into creative installations echoing the themes of Children’s Day and Karnataka’s cultural heritage.

The displays also feature Ikebana-style arrangements, floral arches, and character-based installations to appeal to younger visitors.

Art, Culture & Family Activities

A major highlight is the art zone, showcasing paintings and works from several artists, including acclaimed Karnataka artist Rumale Chennabasaviah. The 11-day schedule includes:

  • Classical music and dance performances
  • Folk arts
  • Student competitions
  • Storytelling sessions and Children’s Day activities

More than 100 stalls have been set up selling plants, gardening tools, handicrafts, homemade products, and refreshments — making the event both a cultural and shopping experience for visitors.

Footfall & Crowd Management

The flower show is expected to draw over two lakh visitors, especially on weekends. To ensure smooth movement, the exhibition corridor from Fountain Circle near Bandstand to Bal Bhavan Gate has been designed as a one-way walking path.
