The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has imposed a complete ban on meat sales and animal slaughter across the city on Tuesday, November 25, in observance of the birth anniversary of spiritual leader Sadhu TL Vaswani.

The order, issued on Sunday, requires all slaughterhouses and meat shops within Bengaluru’s limits to remain shut for the day. Officials from the Animal Husbandry Department confirmed that the ban covers slaughter, meat processing, and retail sales.

The observance coincides with Sadhu Vaswani Jayanti, which is globally recognized as International Meatless Day and International Vegetarian Day—initiatives inspired by Sadhu Vaswani’s philosophy of compassion and advocacy for vegetarianism.
