A tragic road accident in Jaipur’s Loha Mandi area on Monday afternoon claimed the lives of 13 people and left several others injured when a speeding dumper truck went out of control and rammed into multiple vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers.

The incident occurred around 1 pm, sending shockwaves through one of Jaipur’s busiest industrial zones. Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos as the heavy vehicle, reportedly moving at high speed, lost control and overturned after hitting a divider, crushing several vehicles underneath.

🚨 Immediate Aftermath

According to Rajasthan Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, 13 people have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained critical injuries.

“Some injured victims have been admitted to Kanwatia Hospital, while those in serious condition have been shifted to Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital for advanced treatment,” Khimsar told NDTV.

Following the crash, locals rushed to rescue victims trapped under debris and overturned vehicles. Emergency response teams, including police and ambulances, arrived shortly after, cordoning off the area to facilitate rescue efforts.

👮 Driver Detained

Witnesses reported that bystanders caught hold of the dumper truck driver after the vehicle overturned. The police intervened, rescued him from the agitated crowd, and took him into custody for questioning.
Authorities are currently investigating whether brake failure or reckless driving led to the disaster.

⚠️ Scene of Devastation

Images and videos from the site showed wrecked cars, crushed two-wheelers, and scattered debris, with police diverting traffic to alternate routes to clear congestion. Rescue operations continued for hours to remove the damaged vehicles from the road and ensure the safety of passersby.

🕯️ Another Fatal Crash in Rajasthan

The Jaipur tragedy came just hours after another fatal accident in Matoda village on the Bharatmala Highway, nearly 400 km away, where 15 people died and three were injured after a tempo traveller collided with a parked trailer.
The victims in that incident were residents of Jodhpur’s Sursagar area, returning from a pilgrimage to Kolayat temple in Bikaner.

📍 Authorities’ Response

Local authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into both accidents and have assured that compensation and assistance will be provided to the families of the victims. Police officials have also urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere to speed regulations, especially on busy highways and city roads.
