A horrifying murder has surfaced from South Bengaluru, where a 17-year-old girl and her four friends allegedly killed her 34-year-old mother, Netravathi, and staged the scene to look like suicide. The incident occurred at their home in Uttarahalli.
According to police reports, the teen and her friends strangled Netravathi with a towel and later hanged her body from a ceiling fan using a saree to mislead investigators. After committing the crime, the girl fled and stayed away for several days before eventually returning to her grandmother’s home, where her suspicious behavior led to her confession.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Anitha B Haddannavar confirmed that a murder case has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused include the girl, her 17-year-old boyfriend, and three other boys aged 13 to 17, all of whom are school dropouts except the youngest.
Investigations revealed that the murder was triggered by Netravathi’s objection to her daughter’s relationship. On the night of October 25, after a confrontation, the teens panicked and strangled her. To cover up the crime, they hanged the body to make it appear as suicide.
The truth surfaced after days of confusion when the girl’s relatives grew suspicious and confronted her, leading to her admission. All minors except the 13-year-old have been detained, while further investigation continues into how the group planned and executed the murder.
