Bengaluru – Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer MA Saleem has officially been appointed as the new Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) for the state of Karnataka.

A 1993-batch IPS officer, Saleem assumes the top post with vast administrative and policing experience across multiple high-profile roles within the Karnataka Police force. He took concurrent charge as DG&IGP following a formal notification issued on Wednesday by the state government.

Saleem has held various important positions over his career, including Additional Director General (ADGP) of Railways, and has earned a reputation for his effective policing strategies, especially in traffic and law enforcement in Bengaluru.

His appointment comes at a critical time when the Karnataka police force is focusing on modernization, citizen engagement, and crime prevention across urban and rural regions.

In the coming months, Saleem is expected to steer key reforms and lead initiatives to boost public safety, streamline police operations, and improve overall law and order in the state.
