North India is set to witness another intense spell of unpredictable weather, with forecasts indicating heavy rain, snowfall, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds in the coming days.

A powerful western disturbance is expected to impact several regions between April 3 and 5, 2026. This system, originating from distant regions, is likely to intensify as it moves across northwest India, bringing widespread weather disruptions.

What to Expect in April Weather

The incoming system is projected to pass close to the Gujarat–Rajasthan border, triggering extreme weather conditions across multiple states. Regions like Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are likely to experience heavy rainfall along with significant snowfall in higher altitudes.

States such as Punjab and Rajasthan may see widespread thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds, while northern Gujarat and adjoining areas are also expected to face notable impacts.

States on Alert

The effects of this disturbance are expected to extend across several parts of north and central India. Areas including Haryana, Delhi-NCR, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and western Madhya Pradesh could witness severe weather conditions.

As the system progresses eastward, states like Odisha and West Bengal may also experience rainfall and storm activity.

Authorities are likely to issue alerts for extreme events, including isolated hailstorms, particularly in Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

Wind, Temperature Drop and Travel Impact

Strong winds with speeds reaching 50–60 kmph are expected during this period, which could affect visibility and make driving conditions challenging. Following the rainfall, temperatures are likely to dip, bringing temporary relief from rising summer heat.

This extended spell of unsettled weather may also delay the onset of peak summer conditions in 2026.

Impact on Agriculture

While the rainfall could help improve soil moisture and benefit certain crops, it also poses risks to standing rabi crops that are nearing harvest. Hailstorms and strong winds may cause localized damage in agricultural regions.

Climate Signal

The recurring pattern of sudden weather shifts highlights the growing variability in climate conditions. Such frequent disturbances serve as a reminder of the changing weather dynamics and their increasing impact on daily life and agriculture.
