The South Central Railway (SCR) is preparing to launch a new Vande Bharat Express connecting Vijayawada and Bengaluru, with services likely to begin on December 10. Officials said the final approval and exact launch date will be announced soon.
The new high-speed train will run via Tirupati, linking three major South Indian cities and boosting connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
As per preliminary schedules, the train is expected to depart from Vijayawada at 5:15 AM and reach Bengaluru at 1:15 PM, offering passengers a faster and more comfortable travel option.
Enhanced Connectivity & Faster Travel
Railway officials are currently finalising operational checks, timings, and logistics before confirming the official inauguration. The service aims to benefit:
- Daily commuters
- Students
- Pilgrims visiting Tirupati and nearby temples
- Business travelers moving between AP and Karnataka
The new route is expected to significantly cut down travel time, providing a modern alternative to road travel and existing train routes.
Additional Boost: More Coaches for Secunderabad–Tirupati Vande Bharat
In a parallel move, SCR has also increased the capacity of the Secunderabad–Tirupati Vande Bharat Express.
Starting November 26, the train will run with:
- 18 AC Chair Cars
- 2 Executive Class Coaches
This upgrade aims to handle the growing passenger demand on the busy corridor.
Part of a Larger Rail Modernisation Push
The introduction of the Vijayawada–Bengaluru Vande Bharat is part of the Indian Railways’ broader effort to expand high-speed semi-luxury services nationwide. Several new routes—including KSR Bengaluru–Ernakulam—are currently under review or awaiting approval.
SCR is expected to release information on ticket availability, pricing, and guidelines in the coming days.
The new Vande Bharat service is anticipated to offer faster, safer, and more efficient travel, marking another major milestone in India’s premium rail network expansion.
