Actor-turned-politician Vijay faced an unexpected protest on Tuesday when members of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), briefly stopped his car in Chennai to express dissatisfaction over the allocation of district-level organisational posts.

According to sources, the protest was led by disgruntled party workers who claimed they were unhappy with how district responsibilities were distributed within the party structure. The demonstrators halted Vijay’s vehicle to draw his attention to their demands. No injuries or damage to property were reported during the incident, and the situation was brought under control without escalation.

The episode highlights early organisational challenges for TVK, which has seen rapid expansion since its launch but is still in the process of building a stable grassroots structure. Party insiders say internal coordination and cadre management remain key focus areas as the party grows.

TVK has faced scrutiny in the past as well. In September 2025, a rally organised by the party in Karur turned tragic after a stampede claimed more than 40 lives, raising questions about crowd management and organisational preparedness.

Founded by Vijay, TVK was officially launched on February 2, 2024, and has since attracted significant attention, especially among young voters and first-time political supporters. However, Tuesday’s protest underscores the challenges the party faces in managing expectations and maintaining unity among its expanding ranks.
