Israel-Iran War Intensifies: Day 4 Sees Major Explosions in Tel Aviv and Haifa, Over 220 Dead in Iran
As the Israel-Iran conflict enters its fourth day (June 16), violence has surged with renewed missile and drone attacks on both military and civilian infrastructure. Iran launched a wave of strikes near Israel’s Haifa port, triggering fires and multiple injuries, while Israeli forces intensified their retaliation, killing top Iranian commanders, including the head of the Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence wing.
Reports confirm that Operation True Promise 3, launched late Sunday by Iran, involved “hundreds” of ballistic missiles targeting critical Israeli infrastructure. Explosions rocked Tel Aviv and Haifa, with at least 29 injured and three fatalities confirmed.
In Iran, the death toll climbed to 224, including civilians and senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) leaders such as intelligence chief Mohammad Kazemi, his deputy Hassan Mohaqiq, and another officer, Mohsen Bagheri.
Iranian military officials warned Israeli civilians to evacuate the “occupied territories,” stating their retaliatory attacks would continue. Israel, in turn, launched strikes on Iranian energy facilities, missile launchers, radar systems, and even targeted a refuelling plane at Mashhad Airport, over 2,300 kilometers away—a record in terms of strike range.
The humanitarian toll is mounting rapidly. Iran reports 1,277 injuries and a heavy civilian casualty rate of over 90%. In central Israel, electrical grids have been damaged, with emergency teams deployed to restore services and prevent further hazards.
Amid the chaos, diplomatic efforts are faltering. Iran has reportedly refused ceasefire talks until its retaliation is complete. While U.S. President Donald Trump claimed progress towards peace, Iran remains firm in its stance. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed reports suggesting the U.S. had blocked an Israeli plot to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader.
With regional and global leaders voicing concern over the widening war, the Israel-Iran conflict shows no signs of de-escalation.
