The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s T20I squad for the upcoming five-match series against South Africa, scheduled from December 9 to 19. The announcement marks a major development, with Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya making their long-awaited comebacks to international cricket.

Gill, who has also been appointed the vice-captain, will be available based on fitness assessment, the board clarified. The series will serve as an important preparation phase for Team India ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, with only one more bilateral series (against New Zealand) remaining before the mega event.

Suryakumar Yadav will continue to lead the side, which features a balanced mix of seasoned performers and promising young talent. Hardik Pandya’s return is expected to add depth to both India’s batting and all-round strength.
