The employee, who worked in Microsoft’s cloud team for five years, was part of a broader team-wide layoff as Microsoft allegedly pivots to an “AI-first” approach. According to the post, regular development roles are being phased out in favor of a smaller, AI-powered engineering team. Much of the traditional coding tasks are now being handed over to automated tools.
