Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday used the final edition of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat for 2025 to reflect on India’s achievements over the past year and urged citizens—especially the youth—to actively participate in building a developed India, or Viksit Bharat, as the country moves into 2026.
Describing 2025 as a “year of pride and progress,” Modi highlighted key milestones in national security, sports, science, culture, and innovation. He said the year witnessed moments that strengthened national confidence and unity.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, Modi said the mission emerged as a symbol of pride for the nation and demonstrated India’s firm stance on national security. He noted that the operation evoked widespread public sentiment and expressions of devotion toward the country across regions.
The Prime Minister also praised India’s achievements in sports, citing victories by the men’s and women’s cricket teams, including the ICC Champions Trophy and the Women’s Cricket World Cup. He highlighted the Women’s Blind T20 World Cup win and India’s strong performance in para-sports, saying these accomplishments showcased determination and resilience.
On the scientific front, Modi lauded India’s progress in space exploration, mentioning astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla becoming the first Indian to reach the International Space Station. He said such milestones reflected India’s growing capabilities in advanced technology and research.
Modi also touched upon environmental and cultural achievements, noting the rise in India’s cheetah population and increased awareness about conservation and the use of Swadeshi products. He referred to major cultural events such as the Prayagraj Mahakumbh and the Dhwajarohan ceremony at the Ram Mandir, calling them moments of collective pride.
Calling the youth the nation’s greatest strength, the Prime Minister announced the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue, scheduled for January 12, 2026, to mark National Youth Day and the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. He encouraged young Indians to contribute ideas and innovation to nation-building.
Modi also praised initiatives such as the Smart India Hackathon 2025, which saw participation from over 13 lakh students across thousands of institutions, and highlighted efforts to preserve Indian culture and languages both within the country and among the Indian diaspora.
Towards the end of his address, Modi raised concerns over the misuse of antibiotics, citing warnings from the Indian Council of Medical Research about growing drug resistance. He urged citizens to use antibiotics responsibly and only on medical advice.
The Prime Minister concluded by acknowledging grassroots efforts supporting livelihoods, traditional crafts, and women-led entrepreneurship across various states, calling them essential to inclusive and sustainable development.
