Political tensions continue to rise in Tamil Nadu as the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has taken a sharp dig at actor-turned-politician Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

During a recent public address in Kanchipuram, Vijay announced ambitious welfare assurances, including providing a house and a two-wheeler for every citizen. The statements quickly drew criticism from senior DMK leader and Deputy General Secretary K. Ponmudi.

Speaking to the media, Ponmudi dismissed Vijay’s promises as unrealistic and theatrically delivered. According to journalist Pramod Madhav, Ponmudi remarked that the TVK chief “is just reading whatever is given to him,” implying that Vijay lacks independent political understanding and is merely reciting prewritten dialogues like in a movie script.

The comments have escalated the verbal clash between DMK and TVK, as both sides intensify their political messaging ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu state elections. Vijay’s political entry has stirred significant public interest, making him a key figure to watch in the evolving political landscape.
