Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, has shifted into a fresh role in his T20 career after parting ways with Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2026. The young all-rounder, who was traded to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) before the mini-auction, is now opening the batting for Goa in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Arjun, known earlier primarily for his left-arm pace, is now showcasing his batting skills at the top of the order. In Goa’s match against Uttar Pradesh, he opened alongside Ishaan Gadekar, scoring 28 runs off 22 balls with 4 boundaries and a strike rate of 127.27.

Despite his batting efforts, he struggled with the ball in that game, conceding 29 runs in 2.2 overs, as UP chased down 173 in 18.2 overs.

Improved Bowling Performance in Next Game

In Goa’s next match against Chandigarh, Arjun managed 14 off 9 balls, but his standout performance came with the ball:

  • 3 wickets for 17 runs in four overs
His spell played a crucial role as Goa bowled out Chandigarh for 121 to seal a convincing 52-run victory.

Arjun’s IPL Path So Far

  • Joined MI in IPL 2021 mini-auction
  • Re-signed in 2022 & 2025 mega auctions
  • Played:
    • 4 matches in IPL 2023
    • 1 match in IPL 2024

Arjun is now looking to strengthen his all-round credentials, increasing his chances of securing a place in LSG’s playing XI for IPL 2026.

With a Ranji Trophy century on debut in 2022 and growing consistency in white-ball cricket, Arjun appears determined to carve a niche beyond his family legacy. Interestingly, like his father, Sachin Tendulkar — who opened in white-ball cricket and won the Orange Cap in IPL 2010 — Arjun too is trying his hand at opening the innings.
