The Government of India has issued a renewed advisory urging Indian nationals currently in Iran to leave the country at the earliest, citing the rapidly evolving security situation amid rising tensions between Tehran and Washington.

In a statement released on Monday, the Indian Embassy in Tehran advised students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists to depart Iran using any available mode of transportation, including commercial flights.

The advisory follows an earlier notice issued on January 5, 2026, when Indian citizens were similarly advised to leave during a period of heightened unrest and internal crackdowns in the country.

“In continuation of the advisory issued by the Government of India on 5 January 2026, and in view of the evolving situation in Iran, Indian nationals who are currently in Iran are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport, including commercial flights,” the embassy stated.

The mission also called on all Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to remain vigilant, avoid areas where protests or demonstrations may occur, and stay in regular contact with embassy officials. Citizens have been urged to closely monitor local media for further updates.

Additionally, Indian nationals have been instructed to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identification papers, easily accessible in case of emergency travel.

The embassy emphasized the importance of registration, urging all Indians in Iran who have not yet registered with the mission to do so through the designated online portal. In the event of internet disruptions, families in India have been requested to complete the registration process on behalf of their relatives.

To provide immediate assistance, the embassy has shared emergency contact numbers and an official email address:
