Flight disruptions persisted for the second straight day at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru, after IndiGo cancelled 42 domestic flights on December 3. The cancellations included 22 arrivals and 20 departures, impacting thousands of passengers.

Major Routes Affected

Flights on key domestic routes such as:

  • Delhi
  • Mumbai
  • Hyderabad
  • Chennai
  • Goa
  • Kolkata
  • Lucknow

were either cancelled or severely delayed. Departures to Ahmedabad, Goa, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Mumbai were also affected, leading to long queues and confusion at the airport.

Why Were Flights Cancelled?

IndiGo issued a statement attributing the disruptions to multiple operational challenges, including:

  • Technical issues
  • Airport congestion
  • Crew and operational requirements

The airline assured that teams are working to restore normal schedules and are offering:

  • Refunds
  • Free rescheduling
  • Alternate flight options

Passengers have been advised to check real-time updates on IndiGo’s website or app before travelling to the airport.

Separate Incident: Major Narcotics Crackdown in Bengaluru

In a separate development, the Bengaluru CCB Narcotics Wing intensified its operations ahead of New Year celebrations.

Key highlights:

  • Two foreign nationals were arrested across three operations
  • Narcotics worth ₹28.75 crore were seized
  • Most significant haul: 9 kg of MDMA crystals worth ₹18.5 crore

During a raid at a residence in Sampigehalli, officials arrested 29-year-old Tanzanian national, Nancy Omary, who was allegedly preparing to supply MDMA in the city’s party circuits. She reportedly arrived in India on a tourist visa in 2023 and later settled in Bengaluru, working as a hair stylist while allegedly dealing drugs.

Police stated she purchased MDMA at lower prices from Delhi and other cities before distributing it in Bengaluru. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigations are underway.
