The Indian Air Force’s renowned Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) lit up the Dubai skyline with a breathtaking formation flight ahead of their participation in the upcoming Dubai Airshow. The team shared a cockpit-view video on social media, capturing the precision aerobatics as their aircraft glided over some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
“Soaring over the stunning Dubai skyline, the Suryakirans proudly showcase the spirit, precision and excellence of the Indian Air Force,” the team wrote on X, calling the experience “incredible” as they prepare for the global aviation showcase scheduled from November 17 to 21.
The Indian Air Force’s Media Coordination Centre confirmed that a full IAF contingent — including the Surya Kirans and Tejas fighter aircraft — has arrived at Dubai’s Al Maktoum Airbase. With over 100 international air forces participating, the airshow aims to enhance interoperability, strengthen defence ties, and promote aerospace industry collaboration.
One of the World’s Premier Aerobatic Teams
Formed in 1996, the Surya Kiran team is among the world’s very few nine-aircraft formation display units and the only one of its kind in Asia. Flying the Hawk Mk 132 aircraft, the team has performed more than 500 shows, representing India at major airshows across China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, and the UAE.
Their routines feature high-precision formations, loops, crossovers, barrel rolls and intricate manoeuvres that require absolute synchronisation, discipline, and rigorous training. The team operates under the motto “Sadaiva Sarvottam” — Always the Best.
Meanwhile, the Tejas fighter jets accompanying the contingent will participate in both aerial and static demonstrations, showcasing India’s indigenous defence capabilities on a global platform.
