The Israeli military carried out fresh strikes targeting key Iranian regime locations in central Tehran on Monday, even as the United States announced a temporary pause in its planned military operations against Iran.

According to official statements, Israeli forces are actively conducting operations within the Iranian capital. The development came shortly after US President Donald Trump revealed that Washington would delay its planned attacks following recent diplomatic engagements with Tehran.

Earlier in the day, Trump stated that the US would hold off on targeting Iranian power plants and energy facilities for at least five days. He described recent discussions with Iranian representatives as “productive” and said the pause was intended to create space for further negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict.

In a statement shared on Truth Social, Trump noted that the decision was based on the positive tone of the talks and added that future action would depend on progress made during upcoming diplomatic efforts.

However, the pause remains conditional. US officials had previously warned that military strikes could resume if Iran failed to ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil transportation.

Iran, in response, signalled a strong countermeasure, warning it could deploy naval mines in the Gulf and target critical energy infrastructure across the region. Iranian authorities also identified potential targets, including major power facilities in Israel as well as strategic sites in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait.

Despite these diplomatic developments, Israel’s continued military activity underscores the fragile and volatile nature of the situation. The conflict, now entering its fifth week, continues to revolve around control of energy infrastructure and maritime routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, which plays a crucial role in global oil supply.

While the United States appears to be exploring a diplomatic pathway, ongoing strikes and escalating threats from both sides indicate that tensions in the region remain far from resolved.
